From old worlds to now, reinvented into stories
Welcome to the world of my imagination. I'm Susan Wyld, a self-published author from Tasmania, Australia. Reading and writing have always been my escape from the humdrum, when I’ve had just a moment or even an acre of time. Explore my books and discover tales that will amuse and entertain, make you laugh and cry, and maybe make you a little bit cross.
I began with a world war two story of family drama and resistance, a period in history I had just been studying at university. I have since branched out into stories of society, politics and environmentalism , and tales of crime and mystery. Of countries and families all entwined together, and cultures that clash to the very edge of destruction. The stuff I to this day enjoy reading.

The things that inspire me; my dog, a walk on a beach. The sunrises and sunsets from out of my window. Art and street art and the random acts of art found in nature. Travel abroad and around Australia. The smell of the bush.

As an author, I believe in the power of storytelling to connect and inspire, amuse and think, laugh and cry. Learn more about my approach to writing and the themes I love to explore.
Immersive worlds
Everything begins with a dog. My first childhood memories, my morning routine. The time and space to think and breathe. Warmth on a lap and a wagging tail when you get home. In life as in writing, dogs rule.
Character-driven stories
I believe compelling characters are the heart of any great story. They are not superheroes, or even close to perfect. Join protagonists who face challenges, are messy and uncomfortable and make mistakes. They grow, and often surprise themselves and the reader.
My writing process
The spark can come from anywhere, the edit is ongoing. Every book is a labour of love. Sometimes they pour out as an unstoppable force, other times require many hours staring out of the window. I research and outline and track dates and ages, all to ensure a seamless and captivating narrative flow.
